The New Forest is a truly amazing place for wedding photography. Once you have been there and experienced it, it will never leave you. The peace and tranquillity of its idyllic ancient woodlands and open moors are breathtaking. Ponies, cattle, donkeys and deer still roam free on heathland and cliff-top walks. You will fall in love forever.
A New Forest wedding at Balmer Lawn Hotel
This is where Lyndsay and Thomas chose to celebrate their New Forest wedding — at the wonderful Balmer Lawn Hotel. Built originally in the mid-1800s as a hunting lodge, Balmer Lawn is a classic country house hotel set in the very heart of the New Forest National Park, and undoubtedly one of the most iconic buildings in the area. It is surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens, rivers, wildlife and the stunning forest itself.
The day
Lyndsay and her bridesmaids got ready in the beautiful bridal suite. Thomas, her husband-to-be, got ready at the house and then the hotel with his best men and ushers. Both bride and groom looked amazing once they were ready, and we captured some lovely images of this part of the day.
The ceremony
The ceremony took place in the afternoon. It was very sweet and full of love and laughter.
Portraits and reception
We then took the couple off for a private shoot together. Lots of fun was had to capture the happy couple alone, before it was back to their guests for cocktails and mingling. Lyndsay and Thomas then made their grand entrance to the wedding breakfast. They cut the cake and had speeches.
