The Cyprus Wedding Season, Month by Month

After fifteen years and more than a thousand weddings on the island, we have photographed Cyprus in every kind of light — the cool clarity of a February morning, the heat-shimmer of an August afternoon, the long honeyed glow of an October sunset. One of the first questions UK couples ask us is simply, "When should we get married?" The honest answer is that there is no single perfect month; there is only the month that suits the day you have in your head — whether that is barefoot on warm sand, surrounded by spring wildflowers, or wrapped up against a bright, quiet winter sky.

Getting married in Cyprus — Beziique

This guide walks through the Cyprus wedding season season by season, and month by month within each one, so you can weigh up the things that actually matter on the day: temperature and comfort, the quality of the light for your photographs, how busy the venues and beaches will be, and where the costs sit. If you want our one-line recommendation before you read on, see our companion piece on the best time to get married in Cyprus — but the detail below is what helps most couples make up their minds. It also pays to set your timing against the bigger picture, which we lay out in our complete guide to getting married in Cyprus.

A quick word on the things that stay constant. Cyprus is roughly a four-and-a-half-hour direct flight from the UK into Paphos or Larnaca, so guests of any age can join you whatever the month. The legal process is the same year-round. And the island is genuinely a two-sided proposition: the coast stays milder and breezier than the inland hills and the Troodos mountains, so a date that feels warm by the sea can feel noticeably cooler up in the villages. Keep that in mind as you read.

Spring (March–May)

Spring is, for many of our couples, the quiet favourite. March opens cool and changeable — daytime temperatures around the mid-to-high teens, the occasional shower, and a countryside that is impossibly green after the winter rains. It is not yet reliable beach weather, but it is beautiful weather, and a March wedding has a freshness to it that high summer simply cannot offer. Venues and suppliers are still in their shoulder-season rhythm, which means more availability and gentler pricing than the peak months.

April is where spring really arrives. Days climb into the low-to-mid twenties, the sea is warming, and the island is at its most photogenic — wildflowers along the coast paths, blossom in the orchards, hillsides that are still lush rather than sun-bleached. May is the start of the most popular run of the entire year: warm, settled, comfortable days around the low-to-mid twenties, long evenings, and that soft, generous light photographers love. If you want the heat without the crowds and without the August furnace, late April and May are hard to beat. We go into the season in depth in our guide to spring weddings in Cyprus.

For photography, spring gives you something you cannot buy back later in the year: colour and texture in the landscape. By July the hills have turned gold and dry; in April and May they are green and alive, and that makes for richer, more painterly backdrops in your couple portraits. The light is clean and the midday sun is warm rather than punishing, so a slightly earlier ceremony is perfectly comfortable — though we still love an evening of golden light whenever we can have it.

What to plan for: March can throw a wet day at you, so a venue with an attractive indoor or covered option is wise that early. By May the main consideration flips to popularity — the best venues and the best dates book up well ahead, so if your heart is set on a spring weekend, secure your date and your key suppliers early.

Summer (June–August)

Summer is the classic Cyprus wedding — long, hot, dependable days and almost guaranteed sunshine. June is the gentlest of the three: temperatures in the high twenties, warm sea, and that reliable blue sky, but without the most extreme heat of the deep summer. It sits at the tail end of the prime season and remains one of our busiest, most-requested months for good reason. If you want a true summer wedding with a margin of comfort, June is the sweet spot.

July and August are the height of the season in every sense. The weather is at its most reliable — you can plan an outdoor ceremony with real confidence — but it is also genuinely hot, regularly 32°C and above, and the middle of the day can be intense for guests in suits and gowns. This is why, in high summer, we almost always recommend a later-afternoon or sunset ceremony: it is kinder to everyone, and it puts your vows and your photographs into the most flattering light of the day rather than the harsh overhead glare of noon. Our full guide to summer weddings in Cyprus covers how to make the heat work for you rather than against you.

For photography, summer is all about timing the light. Midday sun in July is bright and high, which creates strong shadows and squinting — not what you want for the portraits you will hang on your wall. The hour before sunset, by contrast, is glorious: warm, soft and forgiving, and Cyprus delivers it night after night through the summer. We plan the day around that window wherever the schedule allows. There is much more on this in our notes on the best light and weather for Cyprus wedding photography.

What to plan for in high summer: shade and water for your guests, a ceremony time that dodges the worst of the heat, and a realistic eye on cost — July and August are peak demand, so popular venues and the best dates command top prices and book furthest ahead. Practically, build in some comfort: parasols or a shaded ceremony spot, cold drinks on arrival, and a relaxed schedule that does not leave anyone standing in the full sun.

Autumn (September–November)

If we had to nudge a UK couple towards a single window, autumn would be it — alongside late spring. September is, to our eyes, close to perfect: the fierce edge of summer has softened, the sea is at its warmest after months of heating, and daytime temperatures settle into the comfortable mid-twenties. It carries all the dependability of summer with far more comfort, which is why September is one of the most sought-after months of the whole year. October continues the run beautifully, with warm days around the low-to-mid twenties, cooler and atmospheric evenings, and a quality of light that is simply outstanding.

That autumn light deserves its own mention. As the sun drops lower in the sky through October, the golden hour grows longer and richer, and the whole island takes on a warm, burnished tone. For documentary photographers like us, it is a gift — soft, directional light that flatters every skin tone and turns an ordinary courtyard or coastline into something cinematic. We could happily photograph October weddings every weekend of the month. Our dedicated guide to autumn weddings in Cyprus explains why the shoulder season photographs so well.

November is the turning point. Early November can still surprise you with warm, settled days, especially on the coast, but the weather becomes less predictable as the month goes on and the first of the winter rains can appear. It is a lovely month for an intimate, off-peak wedding — quieter venues, lower prices, and a soft autumnal mood — provided you choose a venue with a good wet-weather plan and keep your expectations flexible about swimming and long beach sessions.

What to plan for: September and October share spring's popularity, so book early for the best venues and dates. By November you gain availability and value but trade away some of the weather certainty — a worthwhile trade for the right couple, and the start of the quieter, gentler side of the Cyprus year.

Winter (December–February)

Winter in Cyprus is misunderstood by couples who picture a wet, cold off-season. The reality is one of the mildest winters in Europe: bright, crisp days, often plenty of sunshine, daytime temperatures frequently in the mid-teens on the coast, and a stillness that the busy months never have. It is unmistakably cooler — evenings need a wrap or a jacket, the sea is for admiring rather than swimming, and the Troodos mountains may even have snow while the coast stays sunny — but it is far from the British winter you are escaping.

This is the cheapest and quietest time to marry on the island, and for the right couple that is a genuine attraction rather than a compromise — you can see how the seasons feed into the budget in our Cyprus wedding cost guide. Venue and supplier rates are at their lowest, the best dates are wide open, and you have beaches, old towns and viewpoints largely to yourselves — which makes for intimate, unhurried celebrations and wonderfully private portrait sessions. Couples planning a small, low-cost or elopement-style wedding often find winter is exactly what they were looking for; our guide to winter weddings in Cyprus makes the case in full.

December has a festive charm, January and February are the quietest months of all, and the low winter sun gives a long, gentle golden hour almost all day — there is no harsh midday glare to work around, which can actually make the photography easier and more flattering. The trade-off is daylight and weather: the days are shorter, so we plan the timeline to finish earlier, and a rainy day is more likely, so an indoor ceremony option and a relaxed attitude to the forecast are essential.

What to plan for: warmth for you and your guests in the evening, an earlier schedule to make the most of the daylight, and a venue with a beautiful indoor space as a backup. Do that, and a Cyprus winter wedding can be one of the most personal, peaceful and characterful days imaginable.

Whichever season speaks to you, the light is what we are really chasing — and Cyprus is generous with it all year. To see how each season looks through our lens, browse our wedding portfolio, and when you have a date or a season in mind we would love to hear about your plans.

  • When is the best time of year to get married in Cyprus?

The most popular months are May–June and September–October, when temperatures sit around a comfortable 20–26°C and the light is soft and golden — ideal for photography. July and August are the hottest (often 32°C and above), so we recommend later-afternoon and sunset ceremonies in high summer. The shoulder seasons give the best light, while winter is the cheapest and quietest time to marry in Cyprus if you want an intimate, low-cost celebration.

  • What is the hottest month for a Cyprus wedding?

July and August are the hottest months for a Cyprus wedding, regularly reaching 32°C and above. Because the middle of the day can be intense for you and your guests, we recommend planning a later-afternoon or sunset ceremony in high summer — it is far more comfortable, and it gives you the warmest, most flattering light for your photographs.

  • How far is Cyprus to fly from the UK?

Cyprus is roughly a 4.5-hour direct flight from the UK, with regular services into both Paphos (PFO) and Larnaca (LCA) airports. That short-haul distance is one of the reasons Cyprus is so popular for UK destination weddings — it's easy for guests of all ages to join you, with no long-haul jet lag.

  • How soon will we get our wedding photos?

You'll receive a set of sneak-peek images within the first days after your wedding, so you have something beautiful to share while the memories are fresh. Your full, hand-edited gallery is then delivered in approximately 6–10 weeks. Every image is individually edited in our signature documentary style — we never cut corners on the part that lasts a lifetime.
